Understanding Telescopes for Astronomy

Swords Libary are delighted to host a talk by Stephen Kershaw who probably knows more about telescope and binocular observing than anyone in Ireland. Stephen Kershaw is the founder and proprietor of KTEC Telescopes, Ireland’s go-to specialist for astronomical optics, mounts, and imaging accessories. With decades of hands-on observing and astrophotography experience, Stephen combines deep technical knowledge with a passion for sharing the night sky.

Under his guidance, KTEC has become a trusted resource for both beginners and seasoned astronomers. Stephen routinely leads workshops, offers personalised telescope consultations, and enjoys demonstrating everything from entry-level setups to advanced imaging rigs. He is deeply committed to helping newcomers get started in astrophotography—and eager to show, not just tell, how to turn a modest telescope into a window on the cosmos. KTEC Telescopes are situated just off the M50 near IKEA, See their website at https://ktectelescopes.ie

He will be speaking at the  Library, on March 3rd at 6.30pm, for a talk on all things Telescopes. So if you are thinking of getting one, or already have one, come along, and he will do his best to help and guide
