Photons to Photographs: An Introduction to Astrophotography

Photons to Photographs: An Introduction to Astrophotography
Martin McAree has, by his own admission, amassed enough artillery, medical equipment, and helmets to equip a battlefield in ancient Rome. His home in Blackrock, Cork, is nothing short of a living time capsule, where an extraordinary collection of Roman-era artefacts fills every conceivable space, vividly recreating one of history’s most iconic civilisations.
By day, Martin is an Associate Director with the PM Group. By night, his passion turns to the cosmos. Using a William Optics GT81 Mk IV APO mounted on a Sky-Watcher EQ6 Pro, Martin explores the night sky, capturing stunning astrophotography that bridges ancient history and modern science. His work reflects a unique blend of curiosity, precision, and wonder — from the battlefields of Rome to the vast expanse of the Universe.
